Laura C. Bowman, M.D.

Laura C. Bowman, M.D. is a 1981 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina Pediatric Residency (1984), and Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (1987) from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She is board certified in pediatric hematology-oncology, and directed the bone marrow transplant program first at St. Jude and then at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta/ Egleston. During almost 20 years of caring for children with cancer, Dr. Bowman became interested in Eastern Medicine. Her further positive experience as a patient receiving acupuncture treatment prompted her to pursue her interest. She graduated from Helm’s School for Medical Acupuncture in 2010 and joined Metro Acupuncture. Acupuncture is an important tool in the treatment of substance use and process disorders. Recognizing this area of need, Dr. Bowman obtained board certification in Addiction Medicine in 2021. Dr. Bowman combines her areas of expertise to provide integral medical, pediatric, and oncology care and pain management. Additionally, she offers acupuncture with appropriate assessment and pharmacologic treatment of substance use disorders (alcohol, opioid, stimulants, nicotine). Dr. Bowman also treats concentration disorders (ADD and ADHD) in both children and adults.
