Living with pain can be exhausting.

It affects how you move, sleep, and even how you feel inside. Many of our patients come to Metro Acupuncture after trying medication, physical therapy, or other treatments, still searching for lasting relief.

Acupuncture offers a gentle, natural way to help your body recover — restoring balance from within.

How Acupuncture Helps Reduce Pain

From a modern medical view, acupuncture stimulates the nervous system, encouraging the release of endorphins — the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals. It also improves blood circulation, calms inflammation, and relaxes tight muscles.

From the perspective of traditional East Asian medicine, pain often means stagnation — when qi and blood aren’t flowing freely through the meridians. Acupuncture restores that smooth flow, helping energy and nourishment reach the areas that hurt.

Together, these approaches address both the root and the symptoms, guiding the body back toward balance.

Common Types of Pain We Treat

  • Back and neck pain from posture, tension, or injury
  • Shoulder and joint pain from arthritis or repetitive movement
  • Headaches and migraines linked to stress or circulation
  • Sciatic or nerve pain with tingling or numbness
  • Chronic muscle stiffness or soreness

Each person’s pain has a story — so every treatment plan we create is unique.

What to Expect During Treatment

Your first session begins with a detailed consultation to understand when and how your pain started. You’ll then rest comfortably while fine, sterile needles are placed at selected points to release tension and improve flow.

Most patients feel a deep sense of relaxation. Some notice immediate relief — others, gradual improvement over a few sessions.
One patient described her shoulder pain as “9 out of 10” before her first treatment with Dr. Fang Wan. After that session, her pain dropped to “3.”
Results like these remind us how responsive the body can be when given the chance to heal.

Whole-Body Healing

Pain doesn’t exist in isolation. At Metro Acupuncture, we often guide patients on gentle movement, posture adjustments, stress management, and nutrition — small daily habits that support lasting relief.
Healing is a partnership between your body and the care it receives.
